What is Shadowrun d20? Why iventing a d20 ruleset for shadowrun if there is already one using huge amounts of d6?

This ruleset has been invented after quite some sessions of Shadowrun edition 3 or 3.01 (the german one). There have always been houserules in almost every group we played Shadowrun. After some time at the roleplaying group TTT we came to the conclusion that the SR-rules had quite some points to improve. But making up houserules for the existing rulebooks was not an option, there were fare too much rules and supplements. The upcoming of the various sets of d20-games and the SRD20 from Wizards gave birth to the idea to "reinvent" Shadowrun as a d20-System. One of the main points of criticism of SR 3 was that is took almost forever to roll out a proper fight. The d20-System is capable of rolling out fights in a much shorter time. Additionally we were - and are - quite fond of the d20-System, it has been proven to be simple enough to play quick and complex enough to simulate many acpects of roleplaying and the universe one plays in.

After this decision was made, we bagun modifying and extending the d20 rules to fit the Shadowrun universe. The two main objectives were to keep the feeling of playing Showrun when using the new system but also having simple and understandable system that does not interfere with the roleplaying by to much dicerolling. And surely the new system must be balanced.

This is how Shadowrun SRD20 came into live. It is documented in these pages. Please take note of the disclaimer in the footer to avoid problems concerning the licenses for us.
